Google personalized homepage gadget

I would like to have a gadget available for my members to add to their Google personalized homepage that would display the most recent posts from the forum.

Does anyone know how to do this?  I don't know how to write a gadget or how to make it work with the forum so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Add a link to this "extern.php?action=active&type=RSS" in your menu. When user click on it in Firefox they can add it to IGoogle.

Thanks for the help. I guess I didn't realize that RSS was already built in and that it was so easy to add the gadget to iGoogle.

I'm not sure that this relates to a mod request but using the link from above in Google Reader, the content hasn't updated in 4 days now. Is there something I am doing wrong? None of the new posts are being displayed.

"extern.php?action=active&type=RSS" display the ative topics. Take a look in the source of extern.php, there you can find info about using extern.php.

Re: Google personalized homepage gadget

if I look at the raw text that extern.php is generating, it is up to date. However the problem is that the reader is not being updated. Sorry if I am missing something in your comment but will looking at the source help me solve this? If so what should I be looking for?

Thanks

Re: Google personalized homepage gadget

All of my other feeds seem to update pretty regularly. It is probably just an issue with the reader. I'll mess with that a bit and see if it fixes.

Re: Google personalized homepage gadget

I have the same issue, and I think it is because Google Reader doesn't register text body change as a "new" topic, but rather just an edit to an existing topic. So any time a user posts a new thread it creates a new post in Google Reader, but then when users update the thread Google Reader isn't notified that a new post has been made.

I am reading extern.php right now to see if I can change it to create a "New" news article every time a new post is made, I don't really know PHP and I am learning on the fly, but I will see what I can come up with.
