URL Re-write

Hi there,

I'm completely new to PunBB. In fact, I only discovered it through Facebook's Developers Forum which was powered by PunBB. I liked the look of it and so I thought I'd use it!

I am trying to work out the URL Re-write Mod, but can't find any information on it, or a download etc.
I want to change the "URL scheme" to be as search engine friendly as possible. Ie. www.domain.com/forum/forum-name/topic-title (something like this).

Please help!

Thanks so much,

Ricky

Re: URL Re-write

Rewriting the links like that makes naff all difference with regards to search engine friendliness. If that's your only reason for doing it, save yourself the hassle and leave as is.

Re: URL Re-write

I'd actually much prefer the url-rewrite in place.
Other reasons for this are that the forum will be mainly used for posting content, articles and SEO work, therefore I would like topic-titles etc in the URL, making them found easier in searches within search engines.

Thanks

Re: URL Re-write

Ok at a guess your using PunBB 1.2.*, if so then you can use this mod. http://www.punres.net/desc.php?pid=139
But! Be warned that it has bugs and I personally would not use it.

If you want the benefit of SEF then you may as well use PunBB 1.3?

Re: URL Re-write

I'm trying to modify the PunRewrite mod for 1.2*.

You are correct about keeping both the forum name and topic subject in the URL being the best way to go for SEO, because I've seen testing which proves that keeping all the title keywords in the URL will place the page higher in search results, than a PHP string. But 1.3* doesn't do that either, on topic pages it will only put the topic subject in the URL, not including the forum name.

I would love to be able to do that with the PunRewrite also. If anyone is interested in setting that up for me, please let me know. I'm willing to pay a fee.
